The roller is a cylindrical part, which is divided into drive roller and driven roller. It is widely used in various transmission systems such as rotary screen printing machines, digital printers, conveying equipment, paper making and packaging machinery. It is usually made of seamless steel pipe, and it is also made of aluminum alloy 6061T5304L/316L stainless steel, 2205 duplex stainless steel, steel castings, and solid forged alloy steel cores depending on the needs of different processes. The production of roller mainly consists of initial turning of roller body, initial static balance calibration, interference assembly and welding of shaft head, fine turning and fine dynamic balance calibration. If the behavior tolerance, such as roundness, cylindricity and straightness, is required to be less than 0.2mm, the upper cylindrical grinder or roll grinder shall be used for grinding after finishing turning. If the surface hardness is required, the heat treatment process shall be added. After forming the roller, for the needs of rust prevention, corrosion prevention, wear resistance and support, surface treatment or coating such as painting, galvanizing, TEFLON spraying, rubber coating, chrome plating, ceramic spraying and oxidation are also required.

Classified by size, there are large rollers (with a length of more than 10 meters and a diameter of more than 1500 mm) for paper making machinery, and small ones (with a diameter of 159 mm) for flat idlers (generally less than 1 meter long) for belt conveying on automatic assembly lines. According to the function, there are rollers that need to ensure the transmission accuracy, such as those on the digital laser printer, calendering rollers that play a role in pressure filtering, such as those on paper making machinery, supporting idlers that do not require high dimensional accuracy, rollers that require heat exchange, and rollers that play a role in heavy pressure filtering, not to mention one by one.
